Our commitment
We're working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA across Pinnacle. This page states plainly what's actually been tested and fixed, and what we know is still open — not a blanket compliance claim. We'd rather tell you exactly where things stand than have you discover a gap yourself.
What we've tested and fixed
- Keyboard navigation: the free diagnostic — likely most people's first contact with the product — was tested end-to-end with the mouse disconnected. Tab and Enter alone can pick a certification, answer every question, and reach a result, with a visible focus ring throughout.
- Colour contrast: an audit found our primary call-to-action colour (orange, used across marketing buttons and the in-app gradient) measuring below the 4.5:1 ratio WCAG AA requires for normal-size text. Fixed sitewide — the button style used for every major action (sign in, start free, submit, finish session) and the standalone marketing buttons now clear the ratio.
- Screen-reader labelling: fixed a site-wide notification region that had an ARIA label but no ARIA role, which meant assistive tech ignored the label entirely.
- Heading structure: fixed footer navigation columns across the marketing pages that skipped a heading level (jumping from an H2 section heading straight to an H4), which breaks screen-reader users' ability to jump by heading level.
- Loading feedback: fixed a diagnostic-page state where clicking a certification produced several seconds of no visible feedback at all before questions appeared.
What we know is still open
Found by the same audit, not yet fixed:
- The authenticated app doesn't yet wrap its main content in a
<main> landmark, which screen-reader users rely on to jump straight to page content.
- The diagnostic's question view has no page-level heading once questions load (the picker screen before it does).
- We have not yet run a full, systematic WCAG 2.1 AA audit end-to-end — what's listed above is what a targeted review found and we've since fixed, not the result of a complete pass. Areas not explicitly mentioned here haven't been confirmed either way.
