Q 6/10
Using the percentage-of-sales method, a company estimates 2% of its $500,000 credit sales will be uncollectible. What is bad debt expense for the period?
A. $10,000 ✓
B. $5,000
C. $25,000
D. $2,000
Why A is correct
Bad debt expense = $500,000 × 2% = $10,000. The percentage-of-sales method estimates expense directly from credit sales, matching it to the period the revenue was earned.

An illustration, not a case study — no real candidates were measured

Candidate A
2,300
questions answered
"I think I'm ready."
VS
Candidate B
287
questions answered
"I know exactly what I'm still weak on."

More questions don't create confidence. Better questions do.

Static learning wasn't built for you.

Every candidate gets the same syllabus.

The same question bank.

The same mock exam.

Whether you're weak in Ethics.

Or derivatives.

Or inventory valuation.

The system doesn't know.

So you become the algorithm. Guessing:

What should I revise?

Was that mistake a pattern?

Am I improving...

...or just answering more questions?

That's not adaptive learning.

That's studying and hoping.

Every candidate knows the feeling. You've answered hundreds of questions. You're exhausted. But if someone asked you right now — "What should you revise tonight?" — you honestly wouldn't know.

Pinnacle doesn't teach everyone the same way. It learns how you learn.

Traditional learning assumes everyone starts in the same place. Pinnacle assumes nobody does.

Every answer — right or wrong, fast or hesitant — reshapes what you see next. Miss two inventory valuation questions and Pinnacle stops testing "Financial Reporting." It focuses on inventory valuation until you've mastered it. Nail Ethics for a week straight and it moves on without you asking it to.

Memory has a rhythm. Your study plan should too. Pinnacle schedules every review at the exact point you're most likely to forget it — not before, not after.

This is Adaptive Learning Intelligence: a system that studies you while you study for the exam.

Don't plan your studying.
Just start.

No profile to fill out, no plan to build. Answer questions — Pinnacle does the rest.

01

Just start

Don't fill out a profile. Don't build a study plan. Just start answering questions.

02

Every signal counts

Accuracy, hesitation, and retries reveal what's actually weak — not just what you got wrong.

03

Every session adapts

New questions target the gap. Old ones return exactly when you're about to forget them.

04

Ask Amber

Stuck on a concept — talk it through, right when you're stuck.

The goal isn't to answer more questions. It's to walk into the exam knowing why you're ready.

The same exam. A different system.

the same fixed syllabus for everyone.
a study path that reorders itself around your gaps.
a question bank that repeats itself.
every question checked against everyone's history before it reaches you.
revise everything.
revise only what matters.
wonder if you're ready.
a mock exam built exactly like the real one — so you already know.

The tutor who never checks the time.

Talk it through out loud, or type it out — she draws on a shared whiteboard while she explains, and if you sketch out your own working, she reads it and corrects it right there on the board.

She doesn't get impatient.

She doesn't judge.

She doesn't tell you to "go revise Chapter 8."

She explains it a different way.

Again.

Until it clicks.

Ask Amber
Knows your session history, your notes, and exactly where you're stuck
You've missed 6 of your last 8 receivables questions — mostly confusing the percentage-of-sales and percentage-of-receivables allowance methods. Want to fix that before moving on, or ask me something else?
Why doesn't a write-off change net accounts receivable?
In my notes I wrote "the allowance is a contra-asset" — what does that actually mean?
What's actually tested on receivables in FAR?
My notes say the percentage-of-receivables method "targets a balance" instead of "recording an amount" — can you explain that in plain terms?
Exactly right instinct. Percentage-of-sales books the expense directly (a flat % of new credit sales). Percentage-of-receivables instead sets a target ending balance for the allowance — so the amount you book is whatever plugs the gap between the current balance and that target...
Ask about your notes or the topic...

Some questions are easier with company.

Some questions are easier when you're not the only one staring at them.

Invite a friend. Join the same voice session. Share the same whiteboard. Ask Amber together.

Because the 11pm derivatives question feels very different when someone else is trying to solve it too.

Every question earns its place.

Every question goes through multiple independent validation stages before it reaches you.

A second AI — deliberately adversarial, told to find fault — independently re-derives the answer from scratch. If it disagrees, the question doesn't ship. Every question is also checked against every other question already in Pinnacle's bank, not just the ones you've seen — so you never get a near-duplicate wearing a new outfit. If too many questions in a batch fail review, Pinnacle doesn't lower the bar. It throws them out and writes new ones.

We'd rather show you fewer questions than show you a wrong one.

Questions worth asking

Is this just ChatGPT with a study skin?
No. Every question is generated, then independently challenged by a second, adversarial AI, then checked against every other question in Pinnacle's bank before it ever reaches you.
What if Amber gets something wrong?
Like any good tutor, Amber expects questions. If something doesn't look right, challenge it or flag it — flagged questions are pulled from rotation while they're reviewed.
How many sections does the CPA exam have?
Four, under CPA Evolution: three mandatory Core sections — Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Regulation (REG) — plus one Discipline section of your choice: Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), Information Systems and Controls (ISC), or Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP).
What is the CPA exam pass rate?
2025 full-year pass rates ranged from roughly 42% (FAR) to 78% (TCP), with an overall average around 50%. See our full CPA Exam Guide for current testing windows and fees.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, whenever you want. And if you're not sure in the first 7 days, it's a full refund, no argument.
Will Pinnacle skip the topics I'm already good at?
No. It covers the full syllabus — it just changes how often each topic appears. You're re-weighting your time, not deleting chapters.
